Neutrals Narcissist

Feel comfortable going NUDE.

The color nude has and SHOULD have many shades!

By Definition:

Nude(n)

/n(y)o͞od/

"a color of clothing or makeup resembling that of the wearer's skin."

With so many shades of "nude" how should one dress neutrally? There isn't one correct answer but I do have some tips! Keep on reading to see how you can take neutrals to the next level.

Do you ever feel like your feed is suddenly over saturated in a sea of all black or all white looks? I love a good monochromatic moment as much as the next minimalist street-style blogger, but fashion shouldn't always be just B&W.

Nude is finally having its moment in the neutrals family! Not like Kourtney Kardashian creating Poosh moment (still unsure of it's purpose), somewhere more in the realm of KKW launching Skims (the second time). Shapewear is great for underneath your looks to help contour your body to make you feel more confident in your clothes. Finally these products are more diverse in tone than ever, as they should be. Getting off topic now, but basically I want to help you look & feel just as confident on the outside while wearing your neutral palettes.

Of course you could take the monochromic route to dressing in nude, but if you want to diversify your neutrals and add some depth I'm here to show you how! Below are some steps to become a true Neutrals Narcissist and embrace feeling confident in the many wonderful shades of nude.

  1. Step One: Pick your hero shade of NUDE. This can be a cream, a tan, a brown, whatever shade makes you feel the most confident. It can be the color of your skin tone or a drastic opposite.

  2. Step Two: Pick your secondary neutral shade. This can include B&W!

  3. Step Three (Optional): Add a print or pattern. I personally love adding animal prints for this (just a Jersey girl at heart) because they typically are already embracing different shades of nude. For example: snake-print is great because it usually includes a tan/brown, white, and black! You can also add a pattern, I suggest sticking to no more than 3 colors to give the look a more subtle effect. A pair of two toned pants or booties is a great option!

  4. Step Four: Add Accessories! So this can either be the easiest or trickiest part of creating this look. The goal is to honor your hero shade to pull the look together. If your hero shade is cream for instance I would accompany my look with a cream colored bag or even a cream beanie (NYC is cold right now). You can add as little or as many accessories as you want as long as they match the hero shade.

  5. Step Five: Try it out on your own! I would loveee to see the looks you created using my tips. Share on social my tagging me @shabbilyshic and using #NeutralsNarcissit I might even feature my favorites on the blog!
